Its really hard to help you when we don't know what "MODE" your video card is in

Correct me If I'm wrong but the GForce you own has a program with it that enable several kinds of DISPLAY MODFES

You need to be in the mode that supports media playback ..with TV out turned on..

This can be a big problem IF YOU"VE never enabled this since you got the card..I've heard of XP greying out functions that exist in the GFORCE utitilty..if you don't use them right after installing the card..so maybe download GFORCE driver update
BECAUSE the first order of business.......remove or get out of the mode used to enable the secondary output of the card to bear a CLONE or copy of the desktop, but not allow VIDEO PLAYBACK on the secondary port

Please refer to the GFORCE documentaion it will tell you how to set the card to try this

THEN..FIRE UP ALL THE PROGRAMS thet the posters mention..I guarantee one of 'em will make an IMAGE in the MEDIA PLAYER window on the TV OUT VERSION

  6. The problem is as follows...
TV-Out works great, see everything perfect. if playing a video file in WM9, and sometimes PowerDVD, the field withint the program window will be blank during playback. so to explain the desktop is there on the tv-out, so it the WM9 program window, but the field where the video should be is black, only on the tv, the comp monitor is all good, is it a security feature/otion i can diasable?

    thanks

  7. I had a similar problem. When I set the video card to use the tv-out as the ONLY display (effectively disabling my normal monitor) it worked fine. Don't know why, but it worked.

  9. Hi,

Here's my input. Make sure that the cabling are all correct first of all. Set the video settings to CLONE mode. Then set the overlay setting for the second device (TV). I think you have not set the OVERLAY settings and that is the reason why there is a black/blank screen when you are playing any type of media.

    Cheers,
    feeras

    For ATI cards:

    1) Go into Display Properties>Settings>Advanced>Displays and first of make the PC monitor the Primary Display and the TV the Secondary display, APPLY the changes (and make sure the TV is on and connected). Now set the TV (again in Displays) output to your telly's requirements (either PAL (UK/Europe) or NTSC), again APPLY the changes.

    2) Now go to the OVERLAY tab and at the bottom (ignore the pop up info) select the CLONE mode options. When in these additional options select THEATRE (THEATER) mode, Full Screen (or same as source, see later) and your tellys aspect ratio (but even on widescreen TV's keeping 4:3 is sometimes better......you can always use the TV's zoom features), APPLY the changes.

    3) What you have now achieved is a hardware (gfx card) derived Overlay (not Windows) for the Secondary monitor (the TV). Play an avi and you will have it on both screens (if you've followed my instructions).

    4) Now, depending on you vid files you might not like what you see in Full Screen mode on the TV (eg nasty black bars for non 4:3 ratio files) so use something like Zoomplayer or the Core Media Player to zoom the height and width independently to fill the TV screen (use Same as Source in Clone Options).

    5) Now that you have a full screen picture on the TV AND on your monitor you can now use the pc for other things at the same time (without the pc monitor having to play full screen video... or visible at all), bloody useful if the kids want to watch something whilst you get on with some serious work...

    For nVidia:

    Similar but go:

    1) Go into Display Properties>Settings>Advanced>GeForce>nView

    Select nView mode: CLONE
Display Pair: Analogue Display (if crt) +TV
nView Display1: Analogue (and CHECK make this display PRIMARY)

On FullScreen Video tab select SECONDARY (unless going thru something like zoomplayer).

HTH (if it doesn't then maybe pc's aren't for you?).
