  1. Hi fellas,
I don't understand but it seems that when authoring(using DVD-lab) an imported clip I created using MemoriesOnTv, the resulting dvd has that clip(this particular clip only, others seem to work fine) beginning at 2:21 instead of 0:00. Funny thing is, the original MemoriesOnTv rendered clip(which I save on my HD b4 dropping it in DVD-lab to author) looks fine in preview mode in DVD-lab as well as when viewed on its own in mediaplayer & powerdvd.

After authoring files to my HD however, clip starts at 2:21 when I click "Photo Gallery" in my menu. Or maybe I accidently set clip to start at 2:21? How do I check & remedy this problem?

I've done this several times over but still having same result. Even changed saving it to different drive but still same result. I just don't know what is wrong.

Anyone with similar experience care to advice?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. I've never used MemoriesOnTV but I assume your clip is an MPEG2 stream. If so, rewrite the GOP timecode to start from zero. With DVD-Lab - Tools/Rewrite GOP Timecode...

  3. Hi petar,
    Thanks for reply.
Fyi, output for MemoriesOnTv I chose are in VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on the harddisk.
I tried your recommendation & clicked “Full Process” in “Rewrite GOP Timecode” and under “Original/New Diff” it says “0sec”. I then compiled the DVD but this particular clip still starts at mid clip
Is it possible to start playing a clip from the middle instead of 0:00(upon clicking a link for a 5 min clip without chapters) in DVD-lab? Because it plays ok in DVD-lab preview so I suspect this could be the problem – if it is at all possible that is. If possible, how do I do it?
Btw, attached file is the connection I've made. Movie 13 is the clip having this problem. Movie 1 and Movie 2 works fine. Or could it be that there's something I've done wrong in the connection?

  4. Oh, I think I misundestood what your problem was. I thought your clip played fine, it just that it counted the time from 2:21 instead of 0. You are actually saying that it starts playing from the middle (i.e. it jumps the first 2 minutes)?
That's really weird. If you don't have chapters (well you have one - the whole movie) a clip has to start from the beginning. Actually if a clip has more than one cell or program you can start playing it from each cell/program but DVD-Lab can't create this (not that I know of; but I may be wrong). Seems like a bug. You might want to report it.

Is Movie 13 just a regular MPEG2 elementary stream? If it's a system stream (I noticed from the screenshot you have audio as well) try demuxing it first to elementary streams (video + audio) and import them separately. Also try authoring only with the video in Movie 13 (to eliminate the posibility that maybe it's the audio that's causing this).

Have you ever used IfoEdit? If so, open the VTS_01_0.IFO file and check how many titles/PGCs you have. There are many ways to author what you're creating but the "most correct" way would be to create two titles (one for Movie 2 and one for Movie 13; Movie 1 should go in the VIDEO_TS.VOB file) with one PGC each. Movie 13 should only have one program and one cell with a total length of 5 minutes. If it's not like this contact the author of DVD-Lab for support. Maybe you've discovered some bug.

  5. Hi petar,
First of all, thanks again for taking the time to help me with this. I really appreciate it.

Anyway, after following your recommendation "try authoring only with the video in Movie 13", I'm pleased to report that after removing Movie 2 and authoring the dvd with only Movie 1 & 13, it works perfectly! Even more interesting is that, when I add clip 2 again, and reauthoring it, everything works as it should now. Weird huh? Don't know why it didn't work before

I have another question though - in another thread in the audio forum. This time regarding converting mp3 files into audio files that can be used in DVD-lab. Seems I'm having trouble converting it with DVD-lab tools, getting lotsa errors and unusable in the program. Hope you or someone can recommend an alternate conversion software to use.

In any case, thanks for the help petar.

  6. Yeah, DVD-Lab is still in development and you get things like that every now and then. You have to give credit to the author though - he's trying to develop a semi-professional application in the price range of the basic authoring tools.

I use dBpowerAMP Music Converter for MP3 to WAV. Works great for me. Then you can convert the WAV to MP2 (with toolame, another freeware) or AC3 if it's too big to fit the disc.

  7. Thanks petar, once again u've been a great help. I will definitely try out the softwares u recommended but as my nick suggests, I am really new at this so I hope you'll have the patience to guide me some more in the future.

Many thanks and have a nice day.
