  1. If I open TMPGEnc two times, can I convert two different movie files at once? Or will they interfere?

Yes, as long as they both encode at normal priority, not high... if both are working at the normal setting it should work fine...

Even better is to save the projects, set the priority to the highest and make a batch process...

Yes, but it'll take double the time. There are no advantages to it.

  4. I think this would help if you can't be at your computer to start up the next compiling process. What I have been doing is when I get at home I start a process before I get to bed. By the time I leave for work, the process is still going and I can't get another one started until I get back that night. If I could set up a batch file or run them both at the same time, that would allow me to save a lot time!

KuskenLars - How would you suggest I do this? I understand what you mean about running two sessions of TMPGenc and setting both of them at NORMAL PRIORITY, but how would you set up a batch file to have one burn at high priority and have the other process continue when the first one is done?

I think that the high priority one would suck up all the CPU's time 'till it's done and then let the other process do it's stuff.

Yes, I do the batch file but at normal priority. Since I leave it on all night, there aren't any other apps running anyways. That's a better way than concurrent encoding.

Just click on "Save Project" (or something like that) and it gets put into the batch.

  7. Both at the same time will only be a win if the files are on different disks. If they're on the same disk, all you'll end up doing is thrashing your hard drive and it will take longer than doing them consecutively. Both CCE and TMPGEnc allow you to "queue up" several jobs - usually that's faster than running them concurrently because of either disk thrash or time spent swapping tasks back and forth.

  8. Alright, let me see if I understand how to set up this batch process using TMPGenc...

First, I set up all the options for the first project and save it.

Second, I set up all the options for the second project and run that one.

Once I get that second one going, will it know to start the first one I set up after the one that's compiling gets done? Does it somehow put it into a que? If that's all I have to do, that's easier than I thought! I just wished I would've asked someone about this sooner.

If this is true, what's not to say you can't put more than one project in the que? I've got the hard drive space to handle it.

I wanna batch my stuff but I do frame serving. I guess I could just use two virtual dubs open at once with different frame servers but that seems a little tricky.

setup your project and save as project1.tpr then setup setup your second project and save it as project2.tpr. then hit ctrl+b and click add find the (.tpr)s you made and ad the first one then click ok then ad the second one and click ok now click run and it will run them both in a row.

  11. Thanks! I saw what you guys were talking about when I finally tried it at home. I managed to queue up four movies and when I left for work this morning it was starting on the third one. I never really looked at that program that closely and noticed that option was available.
