I have 3 dvd mpg files that I would like to merge onto one dvdr - what is the best way to go about it. I have tried DVtool but the resultant mpg is considerably shorter in time that the total of the three separate mpg files - like about an hour shorter!! What am I doing wrong - is there a simpler way. I am an extreme newbie and would appreciate any input.

    Many many thanx

You don't need to join the mpegs. Drop them into your author program and it should put them on disk so that they play one after the other, with only a slight pause in between.

    Good call.

I might add that if they're put in the same track there won't be any pause.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks for that - however I have tried authoring these together using TMPGEnc DVD Author and even in the same track there is a very obvious join. Unless I am doing something wrong I need to find another way to join this DVD mpg files - any ideas.

    Many thanx

  7. MPEG-VCR will make joining mpeg files very This a pretty good tutorial:

    http://www.dvdguideuk.dsl.pipex.com/dvdguide/editing1/editing1.htm

It will take your VOB file and create DVD mpeg-2 compliant files. I personally use it to merge files that I have saved to the hard drive.

try DVD Shrink following any of the great guides here. Else give IFOEdit and VOBEdit a try. all free but your time. good luck.

I'm sorry, but what you may be doing wrong is assuming there is a way to "seamlessly" join 3 seperate dvd/mpg files together.

you can mitigate the "hiccup" at the joint so as to make it rather insignificant, but that transition will always be there.
