Really cant help - TDA dont normally crash 4 me but....
the only time I had anything like this was when TDA and other progs were crashing at random.
turned out I had a faulty memory stick.

    Hope that not your problem.

  3. well I don't think that is it, but I think it has to do something with Gateway computers. my laptop and my desktop are both gateways, and I seem to have certain problems with certain programs for no apparant reason on anything but these types of computers, so poop.

  4. Not sure if this will help, but my friends also had problems running a certain software. Turned out that some background programs were interfering or not compatable with that program. Perhaps you might want to untick all non MS process as well as programs under MSconfig and reboot before running Tmpgenc to see if that would help.

  6. It is a problem with just this compilation? Have you tried another different one? Could it be that Tmpgenc got corrupted during the downloading process. Try a fresh download and reinstall. Maybe that will help.

  7. I'd put money on flaky memory, issues with the motherboard BIOS, or over-aggresive memory timings.

TMPGEnc (MPEG2 encoding in general) tends to exercise the system memory and memory bus more then most programs (QuickPar and Prime95 also share this distinction). Hardware that is marginal will work fine for 99% of the programs that you normally use and will only show its flaws with these programs.

Check out MemTest86 / MemTest86+ for testing memory. Also try running the Prime95 client (which will report errors if you have marginal hardware).

I agree, it might be faulty RAM.

  9. well I uninstalled the crack and installed a demo, and now it works, so guess my problem was something to do with a faulty crack, so time to buy the program. My ownly problem with tmpg how much it limits you in authoring. ULead has so much more you can do in less time, but I have synching problems with that program.
