    Overnight, it just doesn't read CDs anymore. I have a lite on 812s. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

    sounds like the drive is no good.
    i had the same problems with one of my old drives.
    had to throw it out and get a new one.

    it still burns DVDs and reads DVDs.

    But it won't recognize any form of cds anymore. Thus, can't burn cd-rs.

    Had this drive for 1 month. I don't believe it.

    my drive failed like that.
    the other way around though....
    it would copy and read CDs, but not DVDs.
    more than likely the laser that reads and burns CDs in your drive is toast.

    Just got through updating the firmware. No avail.

    Restored computer back to time it was working. This was a long shot, I know. No avail.

    Removed the drive, check the connections. No avail.

    Sounds like a bad laser. Not worth messing with for a 1 month old drive. Send it back and get a replacement.
    Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
