Do I have to use the VCD option? I don't want Nero to encode my files, so can I just encode the file to VCD mpeg format (w/ another software) and then just burn it in using the ISO option?
thanks in advance

Yes, You use the vcd option, and encoding with another program doesn't matter as long as you encoded it to meet the compliancy standards. if anything just use the vcd template that comes with tmpgenc.

If you don't burn the file as a VCD in Nero, it will not play in a DVD player. Burning the file as a regular CD-ROM will not make the correct file structure that is needed for a VCD CD. Nero will not convert your file if it's VCD compliant, it will only convert it if it's not compliant, so make sure you have a VCD complinat file.
