After setting my Instant copy 8 setitngs to my own features I am able to 'extend' the normal limit of 4.37 to my own preference. I've read multiple articles that state that you can increase the size (i've heard up to 4.6gig) and should not run into any problems.
I have a couple questions.
1) How much room is needed to 'close-off' the dvd?
2) After I re-adjust my settings I run into a problem. Once I set the movie beyond 4.37gig (and up to 4.6gig), it doesn't matter how high I want to go because once I make the image and save to my hard drive, the total size is ALWAYS 4.28gig in the folder, I don't understand?
Thanks for any help!

This is a very common misconception. A DVD holds about 4.37GB which equals about 4,700,000 MB. So most movies that you put on DVD5 are going to be 4.6 something MB's. That must be where you are getting that number from. If you tried to fit 4.6GB's on a DVD5 it would definitely not fit.
As for your problem, there is nothing you can do about it. This is a limitation of InstantCopy. You can set the maximum size as high as you want, on certain types of movies it is still never going to even reach 4.37gigs. I think any movie with letterboxing throws off its calculations and results in an undersized disk just about everytime.
