Ok guys, question for all the masters in the forum. I want to make a menu that allows you to choose 1 of 3 differant endings for the same movie, but I want you to choose which ending you want, then it just plays through with the one you chose. Is this making sense? like this...
1. play movie with ending #1
2. play movie with ending #2
etc.
I know something like this should be possible. I bought a DVD that has a quiz that actually keeps your score. If you get 8 or higher right it unlocks a bonus.
Is something like this possible???
THANX!!

I can think of two options, one simple, one harder
Easy option - three versions of the film, each with it's own ending. Simple to then pick which one to play. Drawback it three times the space required to store them, and three times the encoding to prepare.
Second option requires scripting to set a register with the value of the ending. Run through the main title until you get to the ending, then link to the correct ending based on the vaule set earlier. I am no scripting guru, but if you look at some of the new tutorials for DVD Lab pro, you will get the idea. -
Guns,
Hey thanks for the help. Sounds like the scripting would be the way to go. I know absolutley NOTHING about it, so guess I better hit the Tuts. Anybody out there a script god? Has anyone ever seen a DVD like that?
The reason I ask, I'm a Indie film amker and I'm going to be working on a DV feature this summer. I'm planing the whole project with the DVD in mind, right down to scripting 3 alterite endings. Just wondering if I will be the first??
Any help on the script thing would be cool.
Thankx again folks! -
Another alternative would be branching, which DVD Lab Pro also supports. It looks to be a much simpler option. Basically put all the scenes in the one clip, with different chapters for each ending. You can use branching to set order of the chapters you want to play e.g. option 1 plays chapters 1,2,3,4,5 option 2 plays chapters 1,2,3,4,6 etc.
Download the beta version and have a look -
Guns,
Hey that sounds even BETTER! I was delving into the scrupting thing, looks like it would take a while to figure that out, but I will look into the branching set up. Thanks again!!
