I have no idea why it's happening, but I cannot get a DVD to burn properly. By properly, I mean with menus/chapters. At first I thought it was because I was using the demo, which couldn't do mpeg-2 encoding, so I bought the program and still gt the same results.

What I do is capture my video from my camcorder (Sony TRV-65). Captured thru my Canopus ADVC-100 as an avi file. Studio9 is capturing it fine, making new frames for each scene.

I go to "Edit" and add selected scenes down into the timeline. Select "Show Menus", then drag my selected menu down into the "title track". I select YES to create chapters at the start of each scene and check the box for automataclly return to menu.

If I select the little DVD button in the bottom right of the player window and select play, it plays fine and my menu works as it should. I can select any chapter and it jumps right to it.

Now when I burn the DVD and play it, the menu plays just like any other scene and the chapter button don't work, but they are there, just like that are part of the original video. I know I must be missing a step but I can't find what it is,and I don't need any more coasters, I have plenty now

I've used Studio 8 but not 9. Have you tried putting the chapters in manually?

I've tried that too. Even tried making a DVD of the sample "photoshoot" video that is included with the pgm. Added a menu with a couple of chapters. Played fine in the preview window, but made a coaster whe I burned it (The video burned fine, just that the menu wasn't functional).

I'm willing to try a little more experimantation, but these ruined DVD's are adding up. I thought maybe there was one simple step I was missing, but it looks like I'm doing everything properly (but obviously I'm not )

I didn't have that problem with Studio 8, but I did have a lot of other problems with it. I solved all of them by getting TMPGEnc DVD Author and not using Studio anymore.

    Use RW discs.
