  1. i just started having this problem a few months ago. i have the latest version of dvd decryptor and when i try to rip the dvds i buy so that i can turn them into vcds (for backup), i get this message on some of them:

    I/O Error!
    Device: [1:0:0] Samsung DVD Rom SD-616T F310 (D
    Scsi Status: 0x02
    Interpertation: check condition

    CDB: 28 00 00 18 AC CO 00 00 01 00
    Interpertation: READ (10) - Sector: 1617088

    Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 00 00
    Interpertation: unrecovered read error

this happens at different stages of the rip percentage. it never used to do this. can anybody tell me how to fix it and what it means. thank you for all your help.

  2. I have had that message turn up. I will purchase used dvds from Hollywood or Blockbuster video. Though it plays fully on my dvd player when I try to rip it to my hard drive the message will show up at the same point everytime. I tried to clean it many time. Since this is a used dvd I purchased I do however see little scratches. Scratches will bring up those errors. I hope this is helpful

My Pioneer 116 does this with every pressed DVD5, and won't even load a DVD9.

Perhaps your Samsung has been overworked and underpaid?

The errors mean the Samsung can't read certain sectors on the DVD, either dirty/scratched DVD, or worn out player.

If it's under warranty send it in. If not, Lite On's can be had for ~$30.
