  1. I just checked a bunch of mpeg1 files and I notice they now have an mpeg2 header, and don't play properly in windows. (seem to work OK on standalone unit)

Also When I locd these files in virtualdubmod it freaks out, "anachronistic or discontinuous timestamp" millions of these.

I'd like these files to not be patched wiht mpeg2 heder..........

    What's up?

Are you talking about your original mpgs or the output of svcd2dvd?

  3. Output of svcd2dvd. the source are definately mpeg1 (vcd) files. Mediaplayer, after making program stream with svcd2dvd, is using mpeg2 splitter and my ac3 decoder is processing the mpeg audio, which is strange too. Plius the other stuff I posted in the post above.

note this was making program streams, not elemtary, nor DVD folder.

Further investigation, I oaded tmpgenc demux, and the demuxer reports mpeg1. It's virtualdubmod and directshow that is kicking in the mpeg2 decoder. I will now try the other muxer and see if the same thing happens.

  8. very strange indeed. not all ive processed are like this, howevcer MANY of them are. Here is what AVIcodec says.

    V. Codec name Mpeg 2 (SVCD/DVD)

    A.1 codec name Mpeg-1 audio Layer 1 [0xc0]

This file was an mpeg1 vcd ready file.

No. I will need to see a sample (of the original mpeg). Can you use the MakeSample tool (from the Tool Menu) to make a sample & ftp it to:

  10. I was in error with my previous statement, it is doing it to each and every mpeg file I throw at it. (The sample I sent is funny, check it out)

Well a few things were discovered...

Yes the file now has a mpg2 header and so programs which only look at this header report it to be a mpg2 program stream. Others look a bit more closely and report it correctly.

Whilst this isn't an issue when authoring with SVCD2DVD i can see how other applications may choke.

I wiill fix it in v2

  12. Good job! A question if you wouldn't mind. Why does this happen? Does it only happen when making PS ? And is this why you didn't detect this issue because ES and Author modes don't do it?
Or does it always do it and no one ever realized because the output files always work?

ES doesn't do it. Authoring does but the _DVD.mpg files are not usually reused. So it would only be noticed in PS/VCD.... Anyway going forward this won't be an issue.
