Urgent - Please Help

I have a NEC 1300A, firmware 1.0a. I keep getting a read error. It states tha the blank media I insert has a file already on it(tried it with several discs - error always the same). Has anyone else had this? I would appreciate any help before I return the burner.

Also, what is DMA? Should this be enabled?

I can only answer the question about DMA. It is Direct Memory Access

Yes, you should enable it if it wasn't automatically enabled when you installed your burner. It should allow your burner to keep up with the speed of your HD better.

Thanks. I now see that I can't have DMA.

Amazingly, I formatted the PC and the DVD burner works as normal. Very strange cos I installed it on another machine and had the same error.
