  1. I love this program ... have had a problem with authoring a DVD which I have tested with success on Power DVD and then a re-writable DVD.

I have made several expensive coasters when going to the write only media (Pioneer DVR 103 and Pioneer 2x media).

Everytime I use the write only media, at around 8% in, I get the "BUR" error.

I presume it means buffer under-run, but don't know for sure ... I also presume that it's worked on the re-writable media because it only records re-writable 1x, and the rewritable records at a blazing 2x.

Are my suppositions correct, if so what can I do to correct this problem?

I don't see any control on the writing tool software to force a 1x burn with non-rewritable media.

Any help would be much appreciated ... I've spent too much to go forward without a clue.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I meant non-rewritable in the 2x recording mode

I've gotten that same error many times on DVD-R discs (but strangely enough never on a DVD-RW).

Tech support told me to update my DVR-104's firmware, which didn't help.

I said the hell with it and use Nero to do my burning.

  4. try a different burning app... or try defragging just before burning - and leave the puter alone whilst burning.
    Always check helpfiles/instructions before leaping...

  5. I ve tried all the suggestions (with the exception of new software) ... ans still noting get the BUR error at 8 or 9% every time with write once media.

I also wonder why in the write tool the "write Speed" is greyed out and set to "max" .. the Pioneer DVR 103 is either 1 or 2 x - I feel if I could only set it to 1x for the non re-writable media it might work.

Anybody know why the write speed is greyed out and permanently set to "max" and how I might set it to 1 x??

  6. Since it is primarily an authoring app, I would not stress too much if the burning module does not work.

DVD Decrypter is a free tool to read your video files to ISO and subsequently burn the ISO to disc. There are other free tools/methods to be found here on the site.
