  1. I am capturing movies off the TV with Matrox Marvel G-400TV. I am using the tmpgenc 2.01 to convert from avi to vcd and svcd. I use Nero 5.5 to burn. I have no problem creating vcds to play on my standalone Poineer dvd player.

My problem is creating svcd's. With the Matrox Video card I can record TV at 704x480(NTSC) or 352x480(NTSC) I have tried both.
When I load the avi files (either at 704x480 or 352x480)into tmpgenc and use the template for super video cd (NTSC)mcf and click on preview the picture isn't the correct screen size. I tried all sorts of changes in tmpgenc, but couldn't correct the preview problem.

When I go ahead and decode a tv movie with the svcd template, the color and picture look great on the TV. My probem is that the picture will jiggle, especially when there is a lot action going on in the movie. Can anyone explain this problem.

I have an amd 800 processor, 256 megs of ram, 30 gig maxtor hard drive, and the Maxtor G400 tv card.

  2. my 2 cents: sounds like a bitrate problem..my dvd player will do the same thing when too low (under 1500) or too high (over 2600)..I use super videoNTSC template..change to automatic VBR..slider to 100, with 2520 as set bit rate...45 min fits on 700 meg cdr and plays perfect.this probably didnt help..but i tried.

  3. Changing the bitrate to automatic VBR and sliding the slider to 100 with 2520 as bit rate didn't work. But I played around alot and found that if I changed the bitrate to CBR and clicked on deinterlace, the problem went away. I used the default for deinterlace. I don't know what all this means, but just tried different settings until something worked. I have the Pioneer 343 DVD player. I wonder if different settings are needed for different DVD players. I hope this forum can find a way to stay on the net. I find lots of help here.
