  1. I just tested a Taiyo Yuden DVD-R 4x and it burns at 8x which is good. I burnt 3 GIGS in 7:48 total time.

Is that about right?? in terms of the amount of data and the time it took at 8x??

I figured it would be since 4x at 4.7 gigs of data would be about 15 minutes. Therefore, 3 gigs at 4x would probably be 10-11 minutes. It only took 7:48 on my 8x drive at 8x for 3 gigs.

Just someone reassure me that the time it took is about accurate for 8x?

The only Taiyo Yuden DVD-R Media i have found in my local BB was the
Ten packs of Fuji 4x DVD-R "Made in Japan"

As for the write speed of the Nec2500a (uses Z-CLV burning method)

    Burning at 8x.

    0gb to .8gb is done at 4x
    .8gb to 2.2gb is done at 6x
2.2 to end is done at 8x
