hi i use nero 6 and i noticed last night that it can burn a mini dvd, which from what i can tell is a video ts folder that gets burnt to a cd-r disc and plays as a normal dvd in a dvd player with dvd quality. is that correct? i wondered if anybody had done this and if so what does it come out like? is it any good?

yes, I've done it a few times. Your player may not play it though. I've had it work in at least 3 even though none of their manuals even mention it.

The main problem is that the data rate must be low enough for the player to read it properly. SVCD rates will work and I've been able to use rates up to about 4 Mb/s with no problem. You can of course only fit about 20 mins on a disk but you get to keep all the sound etc.

I made a really great one on a small CD (8cm) of the Scrat movie from Ice Age (4mins).

i have a small piece off footage i recorded onto a dvd+rw disc on my stand alone dvd recorder, so i was wondering if i could author it onto one of these mini dvd discs i can burn in nero 6? seeing as the footage is only 5 minutes long it would be a waste of a dvd to put it on a dvd+r discs so these mini dvds would be ideal. would i be able to rip the footage straight off the dvd+rw to my hard drive then simply re burn the files to a cd using the nero mini dvd feature?

just in case anybody is interested, i burnt a five minute show onto a cd using neros mini dvd option. ripped the show i had recorded onto dvd+rw using my philips dvdr70, and burnt onto a cd using the mini dvd in nero. the resulting mini dvd played on my cyberhome standalone player but did not play on my dvdr70 recorder. so there you have it.
