For those looking for good furniture for video storage, I found this:
http://www.storeyourmedia.com/detail.aspx?ID=7044
for DVD storage. I have about 1800 and most are in the slim 5.2mm CD cases so his cabinet can theoretically store 3000 slim cases. It's now a little less than 2/3 full. I had them all over the place and was always wondering where I'm going to keep them all long-term. I ordered the CD-1500CHY and last night this arrived and I put it together in about 90 minutes. It is one sweet-looking cabinet. The veneer version is only $22 more than the fake finish and it looks very nice. The hole tolerances are tight, the fasteners are all top quality and the back panels are finished on both sides in case you use it as a room divider. I highly recommend this place. The owner had even made a last-minute change for me when I discovered the veneer model, a new item. Check out some of the stuff they have. They pay UPS ground shipping too!![]()

Seriously though, it looks good, I only wish I had that many DVD's to fill it with. -

I know it sounds like a commercial, but the cabinet was nicer than I would have thought, cheaper too. It looks exactly like solid cherry which is way out of my price rangeIt isn't often I find a good web-based company that leaves me feeling like I got more than my money's worth.
I'll try to get a digicam pic of it tonight and post it here
Edit: I just can't decide where it should go. Do ya suppose Will would do some interior decorating consultant work? -
Will does seem the pansy type so he might be able to help you.

Why not build your own cabinet? Then you get something truly personal and customized to your exact needs, it's cheaper and every time you look at it you can think "Damn, I'm good!"

3) a room remodel/library at the new house which included closing off a room and building a wall w/bookshelves and an additional 12 bookcases to cover all the wall area
4) tropical fish tank stands (with doors and storage) for a 125-gallon, two 55-gallon and a special 50-gal terrarium
5) Two room additions at the old house (laundry room and a foyer/entrance area w/skylight)
6) A utility shed at the old house
7) A decorative fence at the new house
and non-wood:
1) Dug a 21' wide hole for a pool using only a spade and a wheelbarrow (took 2 months)
2) Covered 900 square feet of the side yard with decorative, red, cobblestone-styled concrete moldings for the pool area as a walking/sunning surface (took 1 year)
3) Dug up and replaced the sod in the entire front yard (took 2 days of solid, hard work)
I don't mean to whine, but my 10" table saw has stress fractures in it from all the use, and my ass is permanently soreMy ego doesn't need any more "affirmations of my woodworking prowess", and besides, I couldn't buy decent lumber for a cabinet like this for $254. And that would be in addition to putting in 16 to 20 hours of fabrication and finishing time afterward ....no thanks. I'm getting that way with my cars too ...life's too short to spend every weekend under a hood, and the money is waaaay less important than the time

Hey! It's not MY fault Greenpeace are coming after you for cutting down the forests!
That's an impressive list - I can see why you want to give your hands a rest!

I'm kidding, but a couple of times I almost slipped and went hands-first into that table saw. That's the scariest power tool there is ...way worse than a chainsaw, IMHO. My sphincter bunches up whenever I turn that thing on ....so much potential pain there ....A work acquaintance lost concentration once with a table saw and one of his fingers ended up stuck in the ceiling

Here is my CD cabinet.
A Craig Tucker original, one of a kind. Made from an old solid teak table top, weighs a ton.
Have not got round to making one for my DVD's, not enough hours in the day. -
That is bloody nice. I want one!

Here's the CD Holder I made to hold my VCD's. Holds about 250 and has a swivel base.

i'm looking forward to the day i can move out and find somewhere proper for all my stuff, i'm really cramped at the moment.

And of course there's a big stack of cd's in my car too. oh, and a stack on top of my CD player.

That it is, as you can see my PC is on the floor, another is under the TV, an unused and an empty case are in the corner behind the dvd rack and there's another unused one in my wardrobe. along with a scary tangle of wires. there's also a scrabble board and a set of star wars LD's in my wardrobe.
It's just prohibitvely expensive to live on my own, and i can't seem to find anyone willing to share, so i shall be lodging here forever. plus i can't be fucked with ironing or cooking and that gets done for me here! (methinks what i really need is a wife.) -

At a total cost of around, AU$20 (glue, power, timber and time)
Some would see it as cutting out the middle man's profit,
I see it as doing the forest a favour!!!
BTW, the unit's that were posted, are all very nice.[/img]you say Y,
I say Y not? -
