  1. I wasn't sure how to search for this particular problem, so I apologize if this has been covered. Point me to prevous threads if necessary.

I've been using this thread as a newbie guide. In short, I used Premiere to capture, edit, and then output an .avi. Then I used TMPGEnc to encode the .m2v file. I used Virtual Dub to extract the .wav audio and then ffmpeggui to encode that to DD 2.0. I used TMPG Author to create the DVD files (.ifo, .vob, .bak). Finally, I used Nero 6 to burn it all on a DVD+RW.

I popped the final DVD in my player and watched it on my TV. The video looks pretty good, except when there's any motion. Being new to this, I can't say if it's a bitrate problem or some motion filter setting in the encoding process. I've tried this disc on two different standalone DVD players with the same results. But ... if I play the disc in my PC using a flavor of Power DVD, it plays okay. I can't see any of the motion blurring. Additionally, I've looked at the .avi, .m2v, and .vobs with the software player and they all look fine.

I thought the problem might be the standalone players trying to read +RWs, but then I burned a backup of a "real DVD" on a +RW and it played just fine.

Can you guys help me figure out what part of my process I need to change? I'm trying to be patient through the learning process, but it's a lot to take in all at once.

  2. Well, you could start out what kind of file you have (codec, size, duration) and what your tmpgenc settings were as well.

No problem on your progressive scan monitor, motion problems on your interlaced TV. Sounds like you may want to read through the above site.
