  1. I am a DVD newb and have only used roxio EZ CD/DVD creator 6 to make my DVD's from avi or mpg. Some of them will get out of sync with the sound. It encodes the movie itself and I have no idea how to use TMPGenc and such to encode then what is authoring???? I like the ease of this program but apparently its not encoding right for things to get out of snyc. Any suggestions?

  4. and what is that supposed to mean? You think i know what I'm doing by mentioning these programs? I have only heard of them thru here and tried them and get even worse...half a encoded movie with about 2 hrs of solid black at end of it. As for dvd authuring...don't know exactly what that does and never tried it.

TMPGEnc is the way to go, but you need to pick a guide and try it out. The authoring stage creates the file structure necessary for burning to DVD. So you encode, then author, then burn. It sounds like EZ DVD combines all the steps into one package and all-in-one solutions typically aren't very good. Try TMPGEnc and then when you have your DVD compliant mpeg you can author and burn using TMPGEnc DVD Author. They both have a free 30 day trial period.

If you have black video it sounds like you have bad frames, see my link below.

    Good luck.

Tons of informative guides on this site. Excellent search feature, too. Try them.

True I don't think you have a clue... If you even did an ounce of research you'd see that Roxio et al is the suck.... Read the guides here like 90% of us who do the same thing you are trying to do... Hell if I can grasp the basic concepts of encoding, reencoding, authoring, etc I would hope that you can...
If you choose o remain in that 10% category you might as well hang it up now...
