  1. is there a good DVD to VCD or DivX convertor? I've recently started dabbing my hand in this new field, and am unfortunetly without a DVD burner on my mac. i know in the tools section there was a tool called "fourty-two", but it seemed very errored, in that no one could get it to work.

also, if someone could tell me if DivX is compatible with DVD players, that'd be a great help. i'm currently interested in converting LEGAL dvd's i've downloaded (that of Radiohead concerts and such) to be able to burn to a CD and play in my dvd player. if anyone could help that'd be awesome!

Thanks for your time, in advance.

Forty-Two works pefectly for me. Give it a try, it is a great program.

Some players accept, most do not.

For DVD to Divx I suggest Handbrake. I have a guide for it Here

I second using handbrake. Its a damn fine application.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

DivX is incompatible with almost all DVD players. There are some DivX certified players, look into those.

As for these legal DVD downloads, post a link? I'm interested to see what this is.

  6. www.sharethegroove.org (or might be sharingthegroove.org) has live bit torrents of videos, and alot of audio. i usually surf the ateaseweb.com message board to find out about radiohead dvds on torrent, as that's my primary interest, and have never really searched the site extensively to see what else they offer, however, radiohead's taping policy states as long as no money transaction (or profit, rather) is made, it's fine. so it's fine

have fun with the torrents, though! they're some great great great sets out there that should be circulated even more!
