  1. I am using MovieDVSuite. Editting is fine, but rendering is horribly slow. It took 2 days to render a 30 minutes AVI file with resolution of 640x480. I am using Celeron 633/WinMe with the best motherboard ASUS CUSl2-C and pretty fast Maxtor ATA100 hard drive. Is there anything faster out there ??

  2. If you don't want too many bells and whistles, I think VirtualDub is a simple, yet highly powerful editing tool that will move along much faster. It has many, many features for improving video quality and plays well with other encoding software. OTOH, if you are looking for a complete package of special effects to add to the video, VDub is not quite as strong. But often, adding a bunch of effects is what increases processing time. I'm not real experienced with packages such as M-1/2 Editing, or Adobe Premiere but suspect they do offer more effects. But again, I suspect this greatly increases processing time no matter what software is used.

    Good luck
    Mike

With video editing, you're limited (to a small extent) by the software. But... the main factors are the CPU and RAM. Your CPU is pretty wimpy and unless you also have at least 256MB RAM, it'll slow you down A LOT (swap files).

For software, I have heard that Premiere is the fastest as well.

  4. For me, since I own my video production company, Adobe Premiere 6.0 has no equal when it comes to video editing. Sure it takes some time to get used to, but in the end, it's worth every penny. I also use Sonic Foundry's Acid Pro 3.0 for music creation and editing, and Soundforge 5.0 from the same company for audio editing and direct-to-cd burning. I can also uses Soundforge to link my music to video clips.

    Hi...
Yesterday I received Studio 7 and after playing around with it, I uninstalled VideoStudio and Premiere 5.1
It is a really great software.

  6. Did you capture vidoe at 640x480? The best is to capture with same settings you want to render. Also if your editing software doesn't have smart rendering you can wait a long time.
