    hey...

i just used audacity to change the length of a wav file so that it would match 25fps... in audacity i just went to the "change tempo" tool and changed the length in seconds to match the already converted video file...

now when playing it, it sits in sync with the video... but, i could just be being over sensitive, it sounds a little less quality then the original wav file...

is there any other settings i would need to change in audacity when exporting it as a new wav?

ps. from a quality point of view is this program not going to give a final result of the same quality as other programs... just for the simple task of making the audio wav file in sync with a video file converted from ntsc to pal?

I've used Audacity only a few times. I generally use another application (in my case, CoolEdit). However, if your ear is detecting a reduction in audio quality, there probably is a reduction of quality.

Many applications have somewhere that you can select the quality (vs. speed) of conversions of this sort. If not, perhaps the algorithm used to perform a tempo change isn't as good as it should be.

I've also had favorable results with Goldwave. You might want to give it a shot and see if its results are more pleasing to the ear.

hey... yeah i was going to try out goldwave... but how long can you try it before it wont work anymore? ie. after the trial time does it stop functioning? i really want a tool that is free... because all i want it for is to change the speed of wav files from ntsc to pal, it makes it a bit hard to spend the cash and buy a audio program too just use for one function...

Changing the audio length is definitely not a simple task, it involves changing the frequency by an odd amount. I suggest trying besweet. It uses a pretty good sample rate converter.

The audio pitch will change slightly. Most people will not notice it.
