  1. I will be moving to Ireland soon and have some DVD's (about 20) that I bought here and want to bring to Europe with me when I go.
I beleive that there is something about not being able to play because of the difference in TV's or something. None of thes are recent releases and I do not think that I will be breaking any laws. Any Ideas or suggestions would be welcome.
    Thanks in advance

Are you taking your DVD player with you ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Just asking the dumb question first and getting it outta the way. I was not aware of a voltage difference. I would never have known about it had I not asked the question !

    I foresee two options:

    1. Buy a DVD Player that plays both PAL and NTSC and also plays region free or is able to be hacked to region free.

    2. Copy your DVDs with something like DVDShrink which will make them region free. You will still have the PAL/NTSC issue though.

Either way, you're going to have to take them to Ireland with you to test if they work !
    If in doubt, Google it.

I don't think I have found a player in UK that doesn't handle NTSC and PAL . Tvs are PAL only but the players convert on the fly to pal so no viewing issues.
You just need region free player for original non-region2 DVDs.

Just one thing you say your moving to Ireland but it doesn't say anywhere where you are moving from.
