Okay. I have a question for you techies in here. Since Sonic does not sell Sonic Scenarist anymore, and Spruce does not sell DVDMaestro anymore, what will be the new "defacto standard" that you and I can purchase? My uncle owns his own photography/videography business so I get to use his stuff (scenarist and maestro) when he isn't (he taught me how not to screw with his settings lol). But iv'e got a few duckets saved up and I wanna get into his line of work (I can't use his stuff for a business of my own, would be interfering with his work) and I wanna get the new "defacto standard in DVD authoring" program(s). What is next? Does anyone know? I was doing a search for scenarist stuff and a $25,000 scenarist workstation showed up. Is this the way they are doing it now? Selling it only as a workstation? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Do you doubt my courage comrade Khoi?
-
I'm sure scenarist is high enough priced that they usually don't sell it through the website.
Did you read somewhere that its not being sold any longer? because I swear their website looks like they've added new products to the Scenarist family as far as I can tell. -
Sonic's home website will link you to a re-seller. They don't sell it themselves anymore.
Do you doubt my courage comrade Khoi? -
Probably ReelDVD is your answer. I've never used it though, so no further comments.

scenerist is still being made
if you are serious professionally and can't afford scenerist
there's only 2 ways to go
1. Mac OS9.2 and Creator 2.1.7 with sonic mpeg capture board(sd-2000,1000)
2. Tricked up Dell Workstation with ADOBE ENCORE or REEL DVD -
judging by the lack of details with regards to what youre looking to do, i'd recommend a mac with dvd studio pro
-
how would you get you video to the hard drive using Dvd studio pro?
i'm realizing tho' he just asked for Authoring..so your solution is valid assuming he's happy with the capture method already used! -
you can buy just the software -- here is the official price list (since we own it)

You can also get Scenarist Studio for "only" 5,510 euros. A bargain
.
Well, I'd never spend that kind of money on an authoring tool but if Ausar is going into professional DVD production, it might be worth a look.
