If there was no compression then no you don't need it.

  3. I believe that if you are within or close to 4.7 GB, DVD Shrink won't enable the deep analysis anyways, which is logical thinking on it's part.

  5. For DVD5 bacups the easiest way to go is with DVD Decrypter (freeware).

    1) Select "Mode | Iso - read", rip iso image file to HD
    2) Select "Mode | Iso - write", select image file and burn to DVDR

That's it I do this for all my DVD5 backups or to make copies of my current DVDRs.

    BINGO !!!

This is the best way to make a back-up of a single layer DVD disc i.e., a DVD disc less than 4.37GB

if only that method actually worked for me.

dvd decryptor has never once been able to burn a disc for me, nor has nero. Dont' know what the problem is, but o well. I get by just fine with dvd shrink and roxio.

If DVD Decrypter does not work then there is a problem with your computer ... probably in regards to the ASPI Layer.

Unfortunately I don't know much about that (never had a problem myself) but there are threads on here about that.

i'm not that concerned with it. Like I said, I have a method that works 100% of the time, so why change?

Every time I try another prog (nero, decryptor, etc) I get an invalid media message of some sort. Weird, but after a coaster or two, I gave up. Not had a coaster since.
