  1. Is there any software to rip DVD movies including subtitles (soft or hard coded)? I'm using SmartRipper but can't find this option.
    Any help is appreciated.

Smartripper automatically rip the movie part, all audio tracks and subtitle tracks.
Use DVD2AVI to frameserve to virtual dub. In Virtual dub use the VOBsub filter to extract the subtitles you need. Frameserve to TMPGEnc and covert.

You can find excellent guides on this website or on:
    http.//www.flexion.org.

Please, check all the great guides on this site before asking a question that is very well explained in those guides.

    Have fun,

  3. For subtitles, FlaskMPEG offers a much more polished (and less bug prone) process. FlaskMPEG v0.6prev1.1 subtitle fixed is the best version to use.

When ripping with Smartripper for FlaskMPEG, you will need to use "File Mode" not Movie Mode.

Then with Flask, open up the relevant IFO file and you can select the video, audio and subtitled stream desired. Best of all, you can do a quick preview to make sure that the correct subtitle stream has been selected (e.g., standard English over "hearing impared" English).

  5. I agree with Ya_jai, a step by step message would be great. I have the same problem. I use Smartripper, DVD2Avi and Tmpeg and I have VirtualDub in case I need it. So PLEASE tell us how to rip Subtitles and encode them on every frame.

I also have FlaskMPEG but it doesn't work at all. Too complicated. I just want to use the programs I have to rip the Subtitles. Please help!

Actually FlasKMPEG is the most newbie friendly tool, that I know. I highly recommend to read the guides before post such questions. Start here:

Ok, I'm assuming this is for embedded subtitles.
So, I would do a frameserve from DVD2AVI to VDub, then frameserve again to TMPGEnc? All in one shot? And is the VOBsub filter different from the Subtitler filter, or are they the same? Where can I get the VOBsub filter (if it's different) ? What features does it have? How does it work?

  8. Okay!!! let me ask a new stupid question for one more time. How can I use Flask as a decoder and then frameserve to TMPGenc? I have Flask 6.0 preview with 6.11 subfixed. I cannot fine any option in flask but encode to Divx (avi file). I've been here for awhile search almost every forum read almost every guides but still cannot get things done with flask. Actually I can say this is my first time trying to use Flask inorder to get subtitle on my movies.

I can author all VCDs and SVCDs with mpeg still menu or movie clip menu, I can rip original menu from DVD and make it works with my (S)VCDs, I can rip outtakes, deleted scenes and put together in my (S)VCD, I can rip karaoke dvd to svcd using audio function to choose between vocal and karaoke. BUT come to FLASK I have no idea at all. So Truman if you can point me to any like that about Flask I would be really appreciate. I check all "doom9" and "labdv" but still don't know how work with flask. Thanks for the knowledge you're gonna give me.

Have a look at this guide how to frameserve from FlasK to TMPGEnc.
However, I prefer to frameserve with dvd2avi/ Avisynth and the
vobsub plugin. Also have a look at
this topic to learn how to use vobsub if you like.

  10. I'd have to agree with Truman... FlaskMPEG is not that good for frameserving.

If you use FlaskMPEG, be sure to use the Panasonic MPEG Encoder plugin.

  11. Okay now I got flask to work with TMPGenc. It just because I use toolame for audio and I didnt open TMPGenc fast enough after flask start framserving. That cause flask to freeze and hang all the time.
Next, How can I use Pana. encoder plugin with flask? I really have no idea.

  12. Quite simple really. I believe that the method is in the readme files in FlaskMPEG.

    Install the Panasonic MPEG plug-in.

Then, go into the Adobe Premiere plug-in directory and copy the plug-in into the FlaskMPEG directory. You'll have to rename it from "cm-mpeg-pwi2.5e.prm" to something like "panmpeg.cm.flask".

Then, load FlaskMPEG and you'll see that the Panasonic MPEG Encoder is one of the output choices.

  13. Hi Perosales, using Flask isn't very difficult. first you need to download all the needed-software and plug-in check at link in truman's post then download Flask subfixed at doom9.
After you're ready to frameserve by Avisynth in Flask you need to open TMPGenc right away, disable toolame if you use it with TMPGenc.
The result, is not very good. I got out of sync issue after cut/mux with bbMPEG. I'm not sure yet which one give me this problme, might be from Flask, bbMPEG or TMPGenc itself. I got out of sync after I skip to next chapter, RW, and FF. If I play from start to the end, I have no problem with sync but if I choose any chapters or skip, picture would come first and audio 2 sec. later and that cause out of sync issue.
