  1. Ebay has change the way you look for thing's. I buy Laser Disc from ebay all the time. And before I would click on entertainment then the page would change and I would see DVD VHS VHS-PAL LaserDisc. So I would click on LaserDisc and there was a break down by categories Animation Drama Comedy Horro SCIFI. Now you click on Laser Disc and there all together. There no break down any more. This is what they replace it with Gifts view
    Completed items
    Gallery view
    Items near me
    Show all prices in $
    View ending times

Total crap. I found alot of LaserDisc that i did not even no where out. Just by going down the list. If you are not happy with how ebay it making the listing please email them they might go back to the old way

  2. This does suck!

I just went looking for PC games and they're scattered all over the place. They don't even subcategorize them anymore, they're all mixed in with computer hardware and PS2 games.

Like I didn't have enough problems dealing with sellers who can't spell game titles correctly. WTF!

  6. I once bought a copy of Mechwarrior 2 off someone on eBay. It was fine, came in the box and was in OK condition (not perfect as advertised, it had a coffee ring on it...). Put it in and.... It didn't work.

    Why?

He'd forgotton to say about the huge red sign on the front of the case that says "REQUIRES MATROX VIDEO CARD". He'd used a different picture to advertise it.

I will never again use eBay. It's not really eBay's fault (although they could do a LOT more to regulate their business), people who can't spell or have no grasp of grammer, or just downright lie.

Incidentally, if you're in the UK, does it cost anything to get a PayPal account?

  7. No its free, well sort of, they charge you $1.95 to your credit card, this transaction has a pin number in it. When you get your statement you type in the pin number and it upgrades your account to the full one (no sending or withdrawl limits) and they refund you the $1.95.

    Bollocks.
Ebay is superb, it's the ******* idiots that register that make it a pain at times.

  9. Russ,

    Sounds like fun.

    Will,

I didn't say eBay were crap, I just said they could regulate things a bit more by tidying up spelling and watching for obvious pirate goods etc.

No, I know, but that's just my opinion, like yours is yours and Russ' is his (I wasn't actually responding to any post as such).
Ebay isn't perfect, but I love it for it's simplistic approach and incredible opportunity it gives worldwide users.
I happen to agree with your last point, they could regulate things a lot more but think how big the animal has now become, compared to the staff it has.
Pretty much like the moderators on this site, they can't catch everything in their tiny net

i love ebay!you can find just about anyhting on there, if people have plenty of feedback you can usually trust them, and if you get lumped with a piece of shite you can always............. sell it on ebay!
Good way of doing things like upgrading your PC, you can sell all the old parts and buy new parts as well.

ebay is a source of 2nd income for me!
been addicted to it lately.... but i have noticed a string of bad luck for us sellers out there.....

lots of user (0) 's are bidding on items and not paying! man that ticks me off!

but i agree... the layout is much more difficult to navigate, i guess they didnt realize people use to spend endless amount of hours just scrolling though items rather than doing searches for particular things....

half of the fun of ebay is just looking whats for sale! not word searching

  14. I make a living off ebay!!! The only thing wrong with it is when they charge $.65(ebay listing fee) +2.5% (on top of fee) + $1.00 (paypal fees) to sell a freaking $20 dvd...ouch...it cuts into my profitability! With the millions of items listed on the 'bay every day, the listing fees should be .05-.10....and NO percentage fees.

  15. Yahoo auction are better but people do not shop there. Ebay better only when it come's to finding thing's but Yahoo price's and page lay out is better.

how do you think they post all those 'record profits' every quarter? It's from the outrageous posting fees, commision fees, and now, paypal fees.....

Stock price around $69 a share, and about 44 BILLION US $ in market capital....

of course, who am I to complain? I shop and sell there myself!

  17. what options are there if I want to list auctions elsewhere?

  18. "Red96TA" Just go to yahoo then click on auction and take a look it's broke down alot like ebay was. But yahoo has keptthe same system for a very long time. The only thing they stopped that you can not sell there is porn

gotta come out for the pro-eBay side. I think the fee structure is fine - if you aren't making enough profit, you don't have enough margin to begin with.

and they have been very good about responding in cases where I've had problems with deadbeats.

overall, out of over 500 transactions as a seller and a buyer, I can think of less than 10 that left a bad taste in my mouth - not a bad average.

  20. housepig,

margin isn't a problem since I make a 500-700% profit from the things I sell..

    BUT I WANT MORE...lol...

yeah you can sell all kinds of bootleg stuff on there, people selling dvd copies, cd copies and what not..

i hope this new way of categorizing things dosnt affect my selling, but im sure it will though...

i also hate people who dont describe their items, i always make sure to give a accurate on point description of my items...I did have somebody who bought some CD's off of me and they were bitching that none had the back insert and 2 had some light scratches on them, and I asked him if he read the auction description or just looked at the pictures...he never replied back after that...

  22. "NamDekan" It does suck when you run into a nut case buyer. I think yahoo does not care about bootleg's yahoo care about taking the money they charge people to put thing on yahoo. I also hate whena buyer does not tell you what there selling they jusy type some crap with no picture. I like to buy ols cartoon's on ebay and laser Disc and some seller's will say spiderman cartoon VHS. They never take the time to give you the title on the tape. Hell I might own it. I do not want to buy some thing two time's.
