  1. Hello,
I am trying to convert a Xvid\Avi movie to a SVCD,
now I went according to this guide:
    http://www.gkhull.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/avitosvcdguide.htm

And did every thing just like in the guide.

But, after TMPGEnc finshed coverting the movie - the sound was a bit faster from the real time.
I used V-Dub and TMPGEnc just like in the guide, Anyone know what may be the problem ?

    Thank you.

  2. I also tried to save the audio as a WAV and load the wav into TMPGEnc, still the same problem. That's why I think TMPGEnc is doing the problem.

  3. Am I supposed to be able to read that

Ah thats better, dont know what happened there, but the text was white.

So, did you use vdub to save the wav file using full processing mode and no compression. You should have a very large file approx 10MB/min.

  4. Yes I did that, I got a 1.8 GB wav file (the movie is almost 3 hours).

  5. Sounds spot on. Is the audio sync problem constant throughout the movie or does it get progressively worse.

Also is it in sync in the original file.

  6. It gets progressively worse.
And there's no problem with the original file.

  7. Are you converting to the same format as the source, i.e PAL or NTSC.

To fix this kind of problem what i do is stretch or shrink the audio matching how many seconds the voice if off from the lips near the end of the movie using sound forge or goldwave or some other sound editor.

  11. Yes...
I think I should say I also get this msg when I load the movie in V-Dub:

So I also tried to save the wav with V-Dub mp3 freeze, setting the audio to - Full processing mode.
But it saved a wav file with nothing in it...

  12. The problem you are having is symptomatic of encoding a file with vbr audio. But you say you have saved the wav file as pcm uncompressed and used that as the audio source in tmpgenc. So that should fix the problem, I don't know what else to suggest.

One last test. When you play the avi file in vdub it should play out of sync due to the vbr encoded audio. Does it play in sync if you select the wav file as the audio stream in vdub.
