  1. So I am new to DVD burning in general and I have a DVD+rw and there are 2 nice sales starting tomorrow. 1 at staples for 25 imation 4x and another at Best Buy 25 TDK 4x. Which one should I go with, they are the same price.

I have a NEC ND 5100A if that means anything.

    Thanks,

    Todd

  9. Now I am all confused. In another thread people are saying how TDK has gone downhill. And Sabre is saying how Imation is good. So now I dunno what to get. I am leaving for the store soon, so I think I will go with Imation.

That used to be true. But I got a 25 pack at Staples on sale about a month ago.

They are G04 and they skip and stutter. When the TDK s were $2-$3 a disc they were great. As the prices started to fall so did media quality.

Perhaps I just got a couple of bad batches. At any rate, I wont be buying TDK again.

I've never tried Imation discs, but if you do a search on this site you wont find many people who have anything good to say about them.

There really doesn't seem to be any trustyworthy brands out there anymore. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

At least with Staples if you get a bad spindle they will take them back.

Just bought a 25 pack of TDK 4x dvd+r from bestbuy. They are indeed RICOHJPNR01. The one I bought has a black base. There were also packs with a dark blue base, but i wasn't sure if they were ricohs or not so i just got the black based one. If anyone gets a pack of the dark blue based TDK's post the media id.

I have 2 packs of 25 spindle TDK 4x DVD+R. Both have Black bases and both are CMC MAG F01. Not that the CMC bothers me any, as they have never given me any problems..

But just to let you know, the colour of the base is not indicative of anything.

I wasn't saying it was. What I wanted to know about the blue based TDK's was their media id, because I've never seen that color base used before. And I wanted to know who makes them. As far as the black based ones go I've bought 11 25-packs of TDK's ( 9 black based, 2 white/clear based ) over the last 10 months and the black ones were ricohs and the other two were not. While true this doesn't mean anything, for me I've just had good luck buying the black ones thats all. Maybe it's a regional thing or something I don't know?

    Hi Bengalfang,

Sorry to confuse you, I know alot of people like RicohJPN01 no matter they are Memorex,TDK or Imation, and they like it more than CMC that's why I said I will go with Imation DVD+R 25 pack because they are Ricoh, not CMC. TDK is better than Imation ( but you really dont know what you pick .
BTW, TDK disk can play on PlayStation 2 but Imation can not , I just tried it yesterday
    Aaaaaaaa

But why TDK and Imation when you can have Memores for cheaper at OfficeDepot, checck our forum and the trcik to get 100 for less than $65.0 (include tax )
