  1. Greetings Group

I've got a series of MPG files that want to join into one continuous movie. I believe I've seen a utility that will do this for me as each file is named thus:

    MovieFile.MPG.001
    MovieFile.MPG.002
    MovieFile.MPG.003
    .
    .
    .
    MovieFile.MPG.099

Can you point me in the right direction please.

    Thank you.

There could be a utility that just joins MPEG files, but I would use Tmpgenc. The MPEG Tools menu option brings up a tool that joins, splits, multiplexes and demultiplexes MPEG files. Works fine everytime.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

For Joining files, MPG included, I use a freeware program called Filemerger. Works for most any file. Fast and easy. Can join MPG or AVI or others, even if there are hundreds of parts. You can get it here http://home.planet.nl/~doesw008/filemerger.html or other places. Google can find it also.

I have used Camel MPEG Joiner previously.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Joining MPGs is always a tricky business - I've never succeded 100%. It's always audio sync probs. But why'd you want the mpgs merged into one? I mean - depending on your end product, you might be able to go there without merging them...

I have the same problem, used Lordsmurfs project on restoring DVD (demuxing back to m2v), I now have one audio wav file and two m2v files. Need to join the m2v's together so I can re author them.

Sorry about hijacking this message but it seems that we have the same problem.....if any programs are suitable can they join the m2v as well as mpg's???

Guys what he has there is Hjsplit files.

Spoogle you need a tool called Hjslpit/joiner, do a search in google for it it's free.

Once you got it, just use the join function on the first file and the porgramme will join all the files together.

    Brany Lads BLJoin.

Will take the .001-.############ files and output the correct file.
You could/will still have problems. Most idoits, I mean people, don't cut the mpeg correctly so you end up with PTS errors.

The best/correct way to do this is, rename all of your files to just
    MovieFile.MPG
    MovieFile.MPG
    MovieFile.MPG
    .
    .
    .
    MovieFile.MPG

Run Womble's MPGVCR's GOP fixer on each file, then join with Womble, TMPG, or whatever. Don't forget to bitch the person out that posted the file that way, and point them to winrar's web site, so they can properly split up a large file into smaller chunks without destroying the content.

If you attempt to join before correcting the header your playback will have problems. Usually stopping at the time which the first would end, not seeking.................
