  1. i am thinking about buying a dvd burner in a few months and was wondering if it would be possible to burn mpeg-1 video clips on to dvd r/rw then watch it on my regular dvd player (which does play dvd r/rw). i would like to do this so i can put one full length movie (or possibly more than one) on a single dvd instead of using two cd-rs. i know, i know why dont i just make them mpeg-2 dvd files. well the source files are already mpeg-1 so i would gain no quality, and would like to cram as much mpeg-1 as i can on a single dvd r/rw.

  2. Yes, you can put VCD or mpeg-1 files on a DVD-R. You only need to convert the audio from 44.1KHz to 48KHz sampling, which is a fairly easy and fast process. Also, DVD players might even play the 44.1KHz audio fine without changing it, even if it's not according to the DVD standard.

Skittlesen, That sounds really good. 8 hrs+ of VCD maybe 6hrs of SVCD on one DVd-r or RW. Can hardly wait for DVD-RW's to be within price range.
