  1. in TMPGEnc, i can't seem to convert files that have VBR audio....if i do audio and video, i end up with a file that has 1-3 hours of black screen on the end, and no audio....if i do a video only file, i can get it to work, but i can't figure out how to convert the audio....it seems any program i try either comes out as "Illegal MPEG audiostream" in TMPGEnc DVD Author, or it works but when i play the file, it has no audio.....here are some stats for one of the "problem files" (courtesy of GSpot):

    video codec: Xvid
    video fps: 23.976

    audio codec: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
    audio bitrate:116 kb/s (58/ch, stereo) VBR LAME3.90.™
    audio fs: 48000 Hz

i would really like some help here...any suggestions will be tried....

Open it in VDub and save the audio as a WAV file and then convert it with whatever program you want.
