Ok, I'm a newbe but I've followed the instructions on converting MPG to Divx with VirtualDub_MPEG2 including getting the MP3 codex installed. But when I'm at the "save as AVI" step I get the message "no audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format" The source is a Mpeg2 file created by DVD shrink. Do I need to install anothe codex? Which one? This is becoming a bigger project than I expected however when I'm finished I hope to tripple the space available on my HD for Video.
Thanks in advance.![]()

Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

Load the file into GSpot to determine what codec you need. If its a direct rip from DVD its probably AC3 for which you'll need AC3 Filter unless you converted the audio. It kind of sound like you might have converted the sound to an MPeg2 stream as well, but without knowing exactly what you did to make the file you are using I can't say for sure.

It is probably ac3 audio. Install tha AC3 ACM Decompressor and you can convert to mp3 directly using virtualdub.
