With TMPGEnc DVD Author you can select parts of the video you don't want written to the DVD and it just ignores that part of the video. Can this be done with DVDLab or do you have to edit the video in an external editor before authoring in it?
Trying to decide whether to purchase DVDLab or TMPGEnc DVD Author...

You can edit and chop in tmpgenc dvd author and then import the vobs to dvd-lab,the thing i dont like about dvd-lab is that it merges all the vobs together regardless if they are different clips and you cant scan thru 2 clips in one sweep if you chained them together.

Do a search. There was a thread here the other day that explained how to edit a DVD Authored file to change the highlight color. I don't remember the exact steps, but I do that it wasn't very complicated. It requires a hex editor but I think one of the posts gave a link to a free download for that. -

I've been looking for programs to let me just edit menus, too...there doesn't seem to be anything for that (yet). -

As far as trimming in DVD-Lab, I think you could do a mock trim of the beginning as well – at least this is what I'm going to try. You don't really cut it, but if you set your "Play Movie" link on you menu to Chapter 1 and make Chapter 1 the beginning of your movie, that should work. The first part you want to cut is still there, you just never see it. Good if its a short segment and you don't feel like cutting in TMPGEnc and waiting for it to re-encode. I just hope it works.
