I have transfer some Mpeg 2 video which was recorded on a Ram disc in a Panasonic DVD recorder. I used Mpeg2VCR.

The problem I can't now use the Mpeg 2 file as something is wrong? It plays fine with Power DVD but TMPGenc says the file is not surported?

    The file info is

    File : 166 Mb (360 Mb), duration 0:05:08, type MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality 72 %
    Video : 350 Mb, 9556 Kbps, 25.0 fps, res. 352*288 (16:9), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported
    Audio : 9.40 Mb, 256 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 chan., 0x2000 = AC3 DVM [0x80], Supported

The size is the same as VCD for some reason? Is there some other way to convert this file so I can make a DVD?

  2. TMPGENC DVD Author

dont use the dvd video file import, but the other one (cant remember the name of it right now). change the file type to all and your .vro will show up.

I have done a lot of them this way. If you have issues, look for a user by the name of donpedro. He has a lot of info on panny recorders and their trials and tribulations.

Just import it in your dvd authoring tool. You don't have to convert it with tmpgenc...or are you talking about tmpgenc dvd author??

I do have TMPGenc DVD Author and Ulead DVD Movie Factory but when I test the video in the program it only shows a part of the screen?

Power DVD will play the file properly but WMP or the players in the above programs wont?

I need to clear some space and then I will try a DVD-RW to see if it plays ok

    Thanks for the help

  5. ahhh, sounds like you recorded it with either VBR and/or 6 hour mode, which will encode it to VCD standard.

You could use isobuster to extract the mpeg and then do something with it. Better to just rerecord using XP/SP mode and CBR.

No - It was recorded in SP 2 hour mode thats the funny thing?

When I have done 2 hour mode before the files have been 704 x something?

I have not done a test burn and it plays fine?

Strange but as long as it works?

Should I change any other settings on the DVD recorder?

    Thanks
