    Hi

I would like to know that which would be better. PCI or firewire to capture VHS to Computer and convert it into Real Media and stream it online.

  2. I use FW to stream DV into my Mac through a Sony Camcorder and it works very well, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'PCI'...

Might depend on whether you have a free IRQ you can dedicate to just the PCI card.

Better is a good capture card. Easier is a box like ADVC-100 and a Firewire card. Either way you can convert to RM, though RM is an old format. (In my opinion) Most now use MPG4 variants such as XVID and other Divx versions.

I am considering in buying Pinnacle's Studio MovieBox DV 9 and the reason i am converting it into rm is that I want to stream it online on my website.

I also need to buy either the internal capture card or an external capture device. I'm leaning toward the external device for the following reasons:

1.I'd save keep that PCI slot open because it will give me more options during future PC upgrades.

    2. Cooling, my Ahlon cpu can run hot from time to time, so i don't need another potential source of heat.

    3. Mobility, I may want to connect it to another PC from time to time.

The only disadvantages I can think of are table space and price both of which I'm willing to sacrifice. But I'm a newbe so what do I know?
Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?
