I have searched through this site for a couple of days now but can't seem to find anything on my specific problem.
I have a Liteon 811s DVD burner and have been copying DVDs (using DVD Shrink & Nero) and authoring my own DVDs (using Ulead) and datawrite & ritek DVD media (mostly -R). Everything I burn works brilliantly on my JVC home theatre system but will not play on my children's Alba, Pacific & PS2 players. The players try reading the disc but return with 'no disc'. I have also tried on various other brands of players of family & friends but none of these work either.
This is very annoying as DVDs copied by other people on the same media will work in the children's players. I have checked the readable formats for each player (on this site) and they should play all these discs.
I have tried using other media (+R, -R, various brands) and tried using other burnng programs (XCopy, Roxio, CloneDVD) but get the same result everytime.
Is there something obvious I am missing. I am particulary keen to get this working as my parents are moving away and I would like to send them home DVDs of the children.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Phil

what type of file(iso, udf/iso, dvd movie) are you burning the movie as through nero?
-
Are you putting all the DVD compatible files into a "VIDEO_TS" folder then burning that folder?
-
only some dvd players will read a straight iso file, i know mine does(thank you thank you thank you) but most do not likey, spit the disc right back at ya like: here's your junk back

This is a strange one, strange like what a friend went thru. He did not have the LiteOn but he was only able to use his own DVD's, They would not work on my stand alone DVD player. Some of his movie's would have very very bad Pixellation in parts of the movie, He thought because of the compression he was doing with CloneDVD was causing that problem. I showed him the same movie I did and he had seen the diffrence, well let me shorten the story, He just exchanged his burner(same model), now everything works perfect for him. It also sounds like you have tried and exchanged varies types of software and media, time for some hardware test for you to try...
Good Luck -
I can't believe its the burner because every disc plays on my home theatre system just ot everyone elses!

That's the only part of the two story's that are the same, my friend was only able to see his own burnt movies on his stand alone, I could not see any of his movies(except for maybe 1 or 2) not that he changed his burner, everything seems to be fine. The old burner would cause Pixellation on his movies tho....

Other people in these forums have Liteon 811 drives which work perfectly so I can't believe its the hardware.
