  1. I kinda asked this same quesiton in the media/disk area, no replies though.

Anyone got this drive Toshiba sd-r5002 and actually burning at 2x?

If so, could you tell me what type disks your using for 2x burns please.
Was there anything specail you had to do to get 2x burns? Firmware updates? Install to a certain IDE connetion like primary slave, secondary master or any thing?

Nero claims the drive buring 2x, but 1hour is 1x! I was using cheap leda/princo disks and can probably only burn those at 1x. Anywhere I find a compatibility chart for any disks either this drive is not listed at all or it shows the disk as 1x.

Before buying this drive early this year I look at the comments for this drive and I beleave many said it wwrote well to princos and other sheap disks, and at 2x! Not for me, at least with leda princos.

I won't mind buying a little more expensive disk like Ritek if it writes 2x, but if only 1x I might as well stay with leda as they have worked perfect for me so far though 1x only.

    Anyone 2x?

    thanks

  2. I can get 2x burn on my Toshiba SD-R5002 with Maxell DVD-R Ver. 2.0 2X (Nero states that it burns Princo's at 2X, but it takes an hour for a full 4gb of data/video) that takes 30 min. for a full disc.

I am NOT having luck getting my Princo 4X's to burn at anything above 1x on this burner however. I did have to update my firmware (to X033) in order for this drive to even recognize these Princo's as blank DVD-R's. Before the firmware update the drive recognized the Princo's as CD-ROM's (?) so I originally thought I would have to return the media to Rima.
