OK well i'd like some advice on a device here. I've found a used Pinnacle PCTV-USB unit at around 12-13 dollars. My first instinct was to immediately get it just because it sounded cheap , even if i dont really have any planned special uses for it. I then hesitated a bit since i am a master of buying old gizmos and gadgets i dont really need. I also came to think that it's USB1. i believe the USB1 only has a bandwidth of a couple of megabits, so how is the unit gonna be able to digitize a video source at 25 or 30 frames per second ?
There are some info and pic of the unit here http://activewin.com/reviews/hardware/video/pinnacle/index.shtml
Appearently it has TV antenna in as well as coax video in. It sucks though that it doesnt take the sound through the USB as well.
Any opinions welcome!
peace
PS i might as well take the opportunity to introduce myself, i'm new here and i might be hanging here now and then. My name's Jacob, i'm from sweden, i'm interested in media technology and i study media techology. I make a short film every now and then. I went to the doom9 forum and said something about wanting to get into the ripping scene, they fcuking hated me. DS
