  1. Ok, I have several DVD rips that I got from others but I have no idea what format they are in. One is titled as an Xvid rip, and the other is titled as a SVCD.TS . However, neither seem to resemble files of those formats.

I need the info on what format they are so I can correctly this info convert them back into MPEG2 DVD video...

The information about the files is as follows:

There is an icon that says "dmd.mac.nfo" but it won't run, and ends up just displaying my system info.

There are also 2 folders, called CD1 and CD2. Inside them are MANY small files, labeled as "dmd-mac.cd1.r00" etc up to cd2.r47.

There are also 2 files named "dmd-mac.cd1.rar and .svd"

Can anyone help me on what format this is and what I need to do? I mean, is it a format already listed on the website and has a guide, or something weird???

In the CD1 and CD2 folders you will find a file ending with .rar, use Winrar to extract the contents of all of the files in the folder. You'll probably end up with a cue and bin file image for which you'll need ISObuster to extract the mpeg. The problem is that SVCD video isn't DVD compliant. You'll need something like SVCD2DVD to patch the video resolution, fix the audio sampling rate and create the file structure that you can burn to DVD.

  3. Thanks for the reply, it was helpful, and winrar is the file types they were, some problems occurred however.

On one of rips (the Xvid one) produced 1 large avi file per folder, however, when I tried to play them with a player ( I do have an Xvid codec and tried a Divx player, WMP, the ATI player that came with my Radeon, etc) they were stuttered and soundless.

And the SVCD one would not work. WinRAR said it was invalid file type or corrupted.

While I realize I could have just gotten a bad rip for the SVCD one, the fact that the Xvid one doesn't work right either makes me think I am doing something wrong with winrar.

Or could they both be corrupt...?

Please help me figure out what is wrong.

As you already suspect, you're probably hosed with the SVCD rip. You're probably going to have to get that one again. The Xvid one...you could try installing FFDSHOW which may help with video playback. I havea feeling that the sound problem is because you don't have the ac3 filter installed. In the future you should use G-spot to analyze movies if you are having playback problems because it will tell you what format the movie is in and what you need to install if necessary.

Open dmd.mac.nfo with notepad cause its just a text file with the .nfo extension that windows tries to open with another app, read the nfo and it might tell you more info about the files and formats.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  6. the ts in the svcd title stands for telesync, when someone uses a digi cam in a movie theater with a direct audio feed, the nfo file is a info file about the group (pirates) who put the film on the net, and at a guess id say the film is master and commander!!!, please read the rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
