  1. Yes, I am new and need some help from you. I bought my cam corder and my DVD-R drive and have been trying to work with Nero. I am able to capture video and and create DVDs of my son, and they can be viewed in my DVD Player. However, I am baffled about the audio portion. Those home movies aren't the same without the sound. I'm sure there's an easy answer, but I could really use some help.

MY camcorder is a Sony Handycam DCR-PC101. I am also getting really low quality on the video thus far. It's just comes out so grainy, and this camcorder is supposed to record in high quality. Though I never was able to capture sound, I captured video through Winows moviemaker and Nero, and both times the video was poor. I just wish the video looked as gfood as it does when I play it back on the little screen on the camcorder, and the audio would be huge as well.

  2. Couple questions:
1] I know nothing of digital camcorders. Is that what you have or is that an analog job?
2] What are you using as a capture device?
3] It is the opinion of pretty much everyone here that if you are using Nero to convert, you're making a mistake.
Just a couple pieces of info and someone will be better able to help...

It sounds to me like you are using the USB port on the camcorder to capture your video. This is only intended for capturing still images not video which is why you have low video quality and no sound (the USB doesn't transfer the sound). You need to use Firewire (aka IEEE 1394, i-Link) to transfer full quality video with sound to your pc.
