I have been using Nero 6 OEM no problems, just upgraded to the latest version of 6 demo bought the license key but when I try to copy a DVD it tells me it can't copy the DVD. It recognizes my pioneer 106 and my pioneer 121 rom.
I tried it on another machine (windows xp) the only difference was the DVd rom (liton) no problem worked great. Anyone had a simular problem, can anyone help. Apart from changing my DVd rom I don't know what to try. Thanks

I'm guessing the first DVD you copied successfully was a backup or a non-encrypted DVD because you can't copy encrypted DVDs that way. What is the exact error message Nero gave you ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

When you say it can't copy a DVD, what do you mean ........

Did it copy before you upgraded Nero, or is Nero refusing to copy the DVD as its protected. If so, then that is suppsoed to happen !

You will need to rip the DVD first, if you want Nero to copy any commercial DVD

Give us more information, and you'll get your answer a lot faster

If you did an upgrade without totally removing the old version of Nero first, try doing this, sometimes software get confused when you upgrade and tries to use older drives which can cause problems

If its because its a commercial/copyrighted DVD, then Nero will never do a straight copy. You have to remove the protection first

If you're going to try a one-to-one DVD copy, you might as well use DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink. They are both freeware, and do exactly what you want, and take up very little space. Its the ripped DVD that takes up the space (upto a maximum of around 8GB)

Sorry I did not make myself clear.
All I am trying to do is make a copy from a copy. If I copy from the 106 to the hard drive no problems, but as soonI try to copy from the 121 to the hard drive or on the fly it just keeps saying cannot copy DVD. I did uninstall the OEM version first but no joy, so I reinstalled the OEM and then installed the demo version but still no joy. I can use version 5 and version 6 OEM with no problems, but as soon as I put the demo version on it will not let me copy anything, its as if it won't recognize the DVD rom 121 but you can bring it up when you tell it the source drive so it does see it.

  5. I had exactly the same problem trying to make copies of backups, after upgrading to v.6.3.0.3.

Tried everything I could think of, but kept getting .... "Cannot copy this disc to a DVD" error.
Nero 5 always worked for me fine (both on the fly and off).

In desperation, I uninstalled Nero 6 and put Nero 5 back on (new version 5.5.10.56 just released) and this works perfectly.

It's an issue with Nero 6 and not your DVD-ROM and quite a few people are reporting the same issue across the forums.

Thanks for the help. I think you are correct in saying its an issue with Nero 6, the strange thing is it works great with the liton DVD rom. I have wrote to Nero and explained the problem, it will be interesting to see what they say.
