Sorry if this isn't in quite the right forum, but I'm having an unusual problem on all three of my PCs, which are all different specs, from Pentium III to Core 2 Duo. Two use Nero Essential 7 and one uses Nero 6.3. What I'm finding is that after three or four successful copyings of audio CD's, Nero will either stop at 69% when writing the audio CD to PC or not start writing at all. I'm wondering if has something to do with the laser getting too hot because when I began again the next morning, again they all burned three or four before cutting out again. If it is indeed a heat problem, how long do I need to wait for it to cool down or what is the best way to keep it cool. My core 2 duo PC has good internal cooling, but I don't know about the burner itself. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance.

It seems really odd that you have the same problem on three completely different systems. You don't by chance have the same brand/type/model CD burners in your systems?
If the only obvious common denominator is the use of Nero (albeit in different versions), have you considered trying another CD burning program?
By so doing, if you no longer have the problem, your systems just don't like Nero. (Lots of posters here don't like it either; I am not among them.)
If the problem remains, I'd be highly suspicious of the overheating you also suspect. I think I'd either get a hard drive cooler fan or some other fan and jerry-rig it to or near one of my CD burners to increase the air flow on it. I'd also look for any dust/dirt buildup and make sure all installed fans were working properly. Then, I'd try burning again and see what happens.
If the problem repeats, and to further try to rule out heat buildup, I might remove the cover and use a large fan to blow a LOT of air into the case, and try it again. If that solves--or reduces--the problem, it might be the airflow on the case fans don't move enough air and/or your CPU is overheating.
If none of the above seems to help, the the only other "common denominator" I can think of is some sort of malware (virus, etc. or incompatible software) having gotten onto all three computers, but that seems like a REAL long shot.
When you find a solution, please let us know. -
Thanks for the reply CobraPilot. The drives are all different. Two of the PC's aren't connected to the Net at all and have no viruses. I'm guessing I might have to try the cooling idea. I have another burning program I can try, but I have to load it up. I'll give that a go first when I get the chance. I'm flat out too busy at the moment.

Are you talking about making multiple copies of the same disc....or leaving the program open and burning another CD immediately?
If so...I've yet to find a program that will burn like that for me. Not even DVDDecrypter / ImgBurn will burn multiple times for me without shutting down the program and opening it back up again. -
This sounds similar to a DVD burning problem I had in which I could shrink and burn up to 2 DVD copies with no problems, but attempts to shrink burn a third would stop during burn and create coasters every time a third copy was attempted. The problem could only be averted by rebooting after every second copy before attempting another which makes me suspect either a memory or CPU speed issue. I've since upgraded to faster CPU with same memory, and problem vanished indicating it was more likely a CPU speed issue.

How do I post the Nero logs oldandintherway? I doubt I have them now anyway. I've finished the project I was doing.
heck54, no, not multiple copies. The burning itself never failed. Nero just stopped writing the data from the original audio cd on the third or fourth occasion. If it managed to complete the writing from the audio cd to pc, it never failed to burn it. In other words, no coasters made.
