    Hello to every one !

    Quiz of the day :
I have the first elements of my new DVD (that means that I have one .m2v and one .mpa), and I can produce without problems (thanks to all of you and especially to dimmer) my DVD on disc.

What I really want to do now is a finishing touch in my project, and that is a logo of my own in a upper corner of the filmīs screen, that lasts until the end of the film. The logo can be a simple name or a bitmap, or both.
Which is the easiest method to make such a thing ?

    Thank you all in advance.....

I have added a logo using a transparent overlay in Ulead Media Studio Pro 7. I am sure many other video editors can do the same. I'm not sure if there is a simpler way.
The shortest sentence is said to be "I am". The longest is "I do".

Fallguy thank you for your quick reply!

Have you tried it with a .m2v file or with something else (for example .mpg) and if the answer is yes, then you became not syncro problems with your .mpa file in the end???

Virtual Dub mod can load .m2v files, and can use the Logo filter to add a logos. Once it is loaded, you will have to frameserve to TMPGEnc to encode it as a .m2v file again.

Virtual Dub mod can load .m2v files, and can use the Logo filter to add a logos.
Yes, but how can we save it ? In my first try it was produced in the first 5 minutes a huge file of 10 giga (Full processing mode--->Uncompressed RGB).Of course I terminate the program after this...

Once it is loaded, you will have to frameserve to TMPGEnc to encode it as a .m2v file again.
In my second try it produces a 500 Mb file (Full processing mode---->REALmagic MPEG-4 Video codec ) that it was not recognisable by other programs except VirtualDubMod.

    Please help......

Remember, we want an m2v file. Read up Frameserving from Virtual Dub to TMPGEnc. Once TMPGEnc receives the .vdr file (see Frameserving), save it to an m2v file.

    6. I press the start button on the following window, and
    7. I have gave a name for the .vdr file.

You are closer than you realize. Once you name the .vdr file, and the frameserver appears, nothing is supposed to happen.

Now, you open TMPGEnc, load the new .vdr file, select Load, select the type of m2v file it is (DVD, VCD, etc.) select OK.

Name the output file, and press Start. The resultant file should be an .m2v file.

Dear Tommyknocker, it seems that you are ABSOLUTE right.
I was too blind to see it but now it seems to working...
After 3 hours I will be sure for the result!
I hope and pray not to having syncro-problems with my audio file later...
Anyway, you helped me a lot today and I thank you for this !

I will inform you for the progress later....

  12. VDUB Logo 1.4 filter is the best and easiest to use. Plus you can make it fade in and out if necessary

A GUIDE FOR HOW TO ADD 4 DVD TO 1

    1. I have install the the AVIFile frameclient to my VirtualDubMod.
    2. Altough I use XP, I restart my computer
    3. I open my OLD.m2v file in theVirtualDubMod.
    4. I have my logo added.
    5. Following the istructions of the "How to Frameserve with Virtualdub" Topic of the site, I pressed the "Start frame Server" button.
    6. I press the start button on the following window, and
    7. I have gave a name for the .vdr file.
    8. I pressed save(NEW.m2v), and then.....
    9. I opened the TmpgEnc just like you told me to...
10.After 3 hours and when the all story ends I saw that the produced NEW.m2v,
was only 684 MB (the original was 2,43 GB)
11.When I tried to create a new project into TDA (TmpgEnc Dvd Author) with the NEW.m2v file it automatically reject it with the following messages:
    a. A video sequence header is necessary for every GOP in a standard DVD (this message is with red letters-means that we cannot ignore such a problem-), and
    b. The video GOP is too long
    12. After this I closed TDA and I opened TmpgEnc one more time, but now I went into ---- File ---> mpeg tools -----> Merge & Cut
13.I added the NEW.m2v file and I gave a different name.m2v in the outputīs browser. After 4 minutes it produces another SUPER.m2v slight bigger ( 695 MB )than the NEW.m2v
14.This time when I tried to tried to create a new project into TDA (TmpgEnc Dvd Author) with the SUPER.m2v file it automatically reject it with the following message :
    a. The video GOP is too long
15.Fortunatelly this time I can ignore it and I create a new DVD with (guess what) ONLY 878MB

The problem of course is the quality.
I thought that with this frame serve trick I would not have quality loss, am I wrong or this result is normal ???

I am ready to die.... Please help

Remember, when frameserving to TMPGEnc, if you are trying to make a DVD as your final product, use a DVD template! Load the .vdr file, name the output file. Select Load, select the DVD template then OK. You quality should not be that bad, but you have to use a TEMPLATE.

    Thank you one more time

I hope this time it works

The sad think is that I must wait 1 hour to start because my computer is on something else right now, and if I am not wrong another 3 hours until the final product comes out.

    Thank you for your patience

This time I am really gonna die...

Wait. When you encode this time, wait until TMPGEnc has encoded enough of the video for you to tell if your settings are okay. Press Stop. Play the video. It will not be complete, but will show enough of the video for you to tell if it is what you want. If it is satisfactory, repeat and let it encode the whole video.

Well, the result is not perfect but it is surely the better I have until now.....
I have quality loss but not us much as the other times.

    Take a look here:

    .........ORIGINAL .m2v LENGTH / SIZE---------------TEST .m2v LENGTH / SIZE
    ...................83min / 2,43GB--------------------------------27min / 555MB

If what I am thinking is true, then we have a compress of 1/3 in the original file, and unfortunatelly this means loss of quality....

The good news are that I have no syncro-problems with the audio..

If you have any other suggestions then shoot !!

Right now I give another try changing the modifications of DVD template in the Constant quality (original was 65 I am making this 100) and I will report my results soon !!
