  1. hi all,

i'm using DVDLAB 1.3 and have successfully compiled a DVD using a few MPEG1 files i have. I know that its supposed to be MPEG2 but the program does have limited support for MPEG1 which is great 'cause you dont have to re-encode the video (just convert audio from 44 to 48khz)

However, I just tried importing another MPEG1 into DVDLAB and the program crashed!?! ..i tried another MPEG1 and the same thing happened!

The files play fine thru media player and i tried demuxing them with MPEG-VCR and TMPGENC but the same thing happens!

There must be a slight difference between the first lot of MPEG1 files i used and the ones that cause it to crash but i don't know what!?!

Anybody else seen this? Any ideas??

    TIA

  2. arrghh, slipped onto page 2 without a reply and i'm still stuck

i'm still getting this annoying DVDLAB crash problem when trying to import several VCD (MPEG1) files.

some MPEG1s are fine, they look green on the preview but i can still add chapters and means NO RE-ENCODING!

so whats the issue with the mpeg1s that dont import?? They look identical in size, frames etc as the ones that do work!

also, i've tryed TMPGENC DVD, and SVCD2DVD which both accept the same VCDs but the menus are not a patch on DVDLAB (which i shall be buying if this prob gets solved!)

please can anyone offer some advice or
at least tell me the same happens to them

    cheers
    AP

I think that DVDlab does not support mpeg1.
As you say TMPGEnc DVD Author does accept mpeg1.
I have also used SpruceUp with mpeg1 but I had to recode audio to 48 kHz first. I does also work in Spruce DVDMaestro.

  6. dvdlab does support mpeg1, you just cannot preview it.

Does the crash occurr immediately or sometime into the importing process?

  8. Could it be that the video file is either not 100% MPEG1 compliant or are there bad frames, possibly?
