    I have upgraded to Nero 5.5 and before I make a VCD I have the following questions.

    Will the resulting VCD autostart when placed in a Windows (or an Apple) computer? Or will I have to add something.

    Can the choices that NERO gives to make a menu be changed or added to? I would like to make a menu with 2 thumbnails, but, 3 is the smallest number of thumbnail menu style that NERO gives

    Can I place my own icon on to the VCD so it will be the one seen in "My Computer."

    If I add an extra folder containing non video files to the root directory (the little window) of the VCD will it interfear with the VCD being able to be played by either/or a computer or DVD player?

    I thank you for any help you can give

    VCDs will not automatically start on the PC. You will have to add something to the VCD or install a program on your PC that detects when a VCD has been inserted -- e.g., there is a disc detector program that comes with the Sound Blaster Live. For adding something to the VCD, this will only work on either the PC or the Mac (but not both to the best of my knowledge). You should try a search on this subject in the forums as it has been discussed and I thinked answered previously).

    I don't use Nero for menus so someone else will have to answer this.

    Yes. You will have to add the file "Autorun.inf" in the root directory of the VCD. This can be done with Nero or VCDImager. In the autorun.inf, you will have to add the following lines:

    [autorun]
    ICON=ICONNAME.ICO

    "ICONNAME.ICO" is the filename of the icon you are using (which obviously also has to be included on the VCD as well). Further lines in the autorun.inf file will allow you to do things such as autorunning a proggy (e.g., VCD player). If you grab a CD-ROM you have lying around that autoruns (e.g., a game CD), have a look at the autorun.inf there and you'll get a good idea on how they work.

    No.

    Good luck.

    Regards.
