  1. I don't know what the problem is, I'm trying to rip these DVD-R's and it won't do it, it just gets stuck in the middle of ripping, it doesn't matter if it's trying to rip the VOB that it gets stuck in or just trying to create an ISO of the DVD.

I've never had this problem before and it seems like all 5 of the dvd's that I received from the same person have the same problem, is this some sort of copy protection on a -R or something?

  2. well, dvd-r's dont have copy protection on them. It sounds like there are erros on the dvd-r's from when they were burnt.

Kind of a stupid question, but have you tried just copying the Audio_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to your Hard Drive and then burning them?
If they've already been copied to the DVD-R disc you're using, it's unnecessary for you to decrypt them again since they don't have any encryption anymore.

  4. Thanks for the replies guys.

The first thing I tried to do was to make and ISO file. It stalled out and froze on VOB 2.

I tried next to rip the files through dvddecrypter, same error at the same vob file.

Then I just tried copying the folders (Audio and video ts) and it froze also.

I then opened up the folder and tried to copy the vob2 file to my hdd and same thing, froze and stopped copying the file.

ARRRG! I guess the way he recorded them then is the problem? Is there any way around it at all?

    Thanks again everyone.

  5. Just sounds like to me that your DVD player/drive doesn't like the way the discs were recorded ... a compatibility issue?

  6. If all else fails try ripping with the DVD burner. If that doesn't work then you are probably out of luck. If it will play through on your component DVD Player then record it from there and build a new DVD from scratch.
