Okay, it is the program. Templates are preset settings. Load the video as before, name the output file. Select Load. A list of files will appear. Choose the one which fits your project (DVD, VCD, SVCD, etc). Select OK and Start.
    Hello.

Just make sure that your output file from TMPGEnc is set to widescreen as well.

If that does not work, try selecting Settings-->Extras-->unlock.mcf--OK. This should unlock the settings.

You should check out some of the conversion guides over there on the left.

But in a nutshell, what you want to do is check the aspect ratio in GSpot. Assuming you have done that and it's widescreen and you want to keep it that way, select 16:9 display under Settings (bottom right hand corner) in TMPGEnc.

  14. I opened it in Gspot, do I have to render it next to find out if it.s widescreen format,,,I also have downloaded some of the how to files ,but Im still a little confused.

This article should help you with determining aspect ratios and such:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/174200.php

That article will tell you that true widescreen is 16:9 = 1.7777, and anamorphic widescreen is 2:35:1. So if your original movie is one of those you should probably convert it to a 16:9 MPEG-2 file.

  16. Thanks I will check out the link....I think mine is the anamorphic widescreen.

When you do all that stuff in the guide, make sure that you set the Video Arrange Method to something with "keep aspect ratio". I always use Full Screen (keep aspect ratio 2).
