Not sure if this can be done, but what I'd like to do is transfer portions of some commercial VHS tapes to DVD. The tapes are getting old for the most part, and if I continue to play them, they will soon be unusable.
The problem is, when I go to play them using my cam corder as a digital bridge from VHS --> PC, there's some protection on the tape that tells my camcorder to stop playing. Is there any way around this? These tapes are fairly old, and probably not even commercially available any more.
thanks

for your current needs this is my recommendation, through there are other products coming to market in march with greater functionality.
